Yodelin
Snoqualmie RegionBest Dec–Mar
Reliable tree skiing off Highway 2, where powder days and low-angle terrain spread the crowds thin.
About This Trail
Yodelin sits off Highway 2 in the central Cascades, offering reliable tree skiing between Mount Weird and Welldiggers Ass. The terrain spreads across low-angle forested slopes with enough variety to absorb crowds and still deliver fresh tracks on powder days.
The skin track climbs roughly 1,000 feet from the parking lot to the main ridge, then continues upward through progressively better-spaced trees toward 5,200 feet. The upper 500 feet hold the best skiing: well-spaced old growth with consistent pitch and good fall-line options. Below that, the trees tighten and the terrain flattens. Multiple descent lines run between the two peaks, so groups naturally spread out across the mountain.
This is a half-day tour with Highway 2 convenience. The approach is straightforward, the terrain is forgiving, and the tree cover provides shelter from wind and weather. The trade-off is modest vertical and a lower-elevation snowpack that can go thin early or late in the season. Arrive before 8 AM for parking; the lot fills fast on powder days.
The terrain is not entirely out of avalanche paths. Assess conditions carefully, particularly on the open slopes between tree islands near the ridge.
