About This Trail

In winter, the summer Franklin Falls hike becomes a long snowshoe from Asahel Curtis Sno-Park. The short trailhead on Denny Creek Road is gated, so travelers follow the closed road up the South Fork Snoqualmie River for roughly 3.5 miles each way, climbing 800 feet to the waterfall basin. Snow-covered conifers, open river bends, and the gated road's easy grade make the route a steady, beginner-friendly ski or snowshoe.

The falls themselves sit at the bottom of an active avalanche path. Ice forms thick along the cliffs and draws photographers, but the basin is not safe ground when the slope above loads. Stop well short of the falls during considerable or higher danger, and turn around at the first sign of recent slide activity. Check the Northwest Avalanche Center Snoqualmie Pass forecast the morning you go.

The Franklin Falls Sno-Park is closed for the 2025-2026 season. Park at the Asahel Curtis Sno-Park, which requires a Washington State Sno-Park permit. Leashed dogs are welcome.
