Getting There
Recent Reports
We were headed to the Horse Lake Reserve near Wenatchee for a spring wildflower experience, but as we drove down the Wenatchee valley from Leavenworth it became clear by the lack of color on the hillsides that we were too late in the season for the Hose Lake Reserve. So, we pivoted to an area with higher elevations and headed up Burch Mountain, just north of Wenatchee.
The road up was harsh, without 4x4 we slid quite a lot , but once it was on we were fine. There isn’t any designated parking, we were able to park right before the gate entrance on the side.
The WTA trail description offered what I was looking for as a solo, elder traveler wanting a short day hike with minor elevation gain once on the trail. There were no trail reports for this hike on the WTA site.
