About This Trail

Champion Beach is the destination on a quarter-mile path that drops to a wide gravel and boulder bar on the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River. The water pools deep and green between the rocks; in summer the bar fills with families wading, dogs swimming, and parties spread across the polished stones for picnics. The walk in is short enough that the beach itself is the trip.

The forest is second-growth Douglas fir and bigleaf maple — pleasant cover but not the reason to come. Spring brings high snowmelt that swells the river too high for safe wading; midsummer drops the level to ankle-deep along the inside of the bar. The cold-river color stays remarkable year-round, especially in low light.

This is a swim spot more than a hike. Quarter mile in, fifty feet of drop, and good footing for kids. Discover Pass at the trailhead. Crowds build through July and August on hot weekends.

Safety & Considerations

Persistent Hazards

  • Spring runoff makes wading dangerous — levels rise without warning
  • Polished boulders are slick when wet
