A paved road leads almost all the way to the parking area, which had several cars when I arrived (about 10:15) but were mostly gone when I came out (about 1:30). The trail is a service road that runs along both sides of the fishing pond and also out onto the "big flat" area near the Snake River.

The birdsong was phenomenal today! Really lovely day for a ramble.

On this beautiful March day there were some people fishing near the trailhead, but no other hikers. There's plenty of room to ramble and enjoy the unique juxtaposition of river, trees (juniper, cottonwood, pine) and shrub steppe.
