About This Trail

The partial Ragged Ridge Traverse links Easy Pass on the North Cascades Highway with Cosho Peak via the Mesahchie and Katsuk Glaciers — a two-day spring ski objective in the heart of the North Cascades. The route leaves the Easy Pass trailhead, climbs to the pass, traverses to the Mesahchie Glacier, descends to Panther Creek, then climbs the Katsuk Glacier to a high camp at the Cosho-Kimtah saddle for a summit push.

The terrain is committing throughout. Mesahchie Glacier requires steep entrance moves with cornice exposure above. Katsuk Glacier passes an icefall on the way to the saddle. Cosho's summit is reached via mixed alpine terrain. The descent route returns through similar exposure with creek crossings on the lower miles.

This is a partial version of the full Ragged Ridge Traverse — a longer multi-day objective. The Cosho variant gives a meaningful destination for a two-night trip while sharing the same glaciated character. Late April through May is the standard window. National Park Pass at the trailhead; wilderness permit required for camps.
