About This Trail

This route links Klawatti Peak's south face with the southwest couloir off Eldorado Peak, both accessed from the standard Eldorado approach via the Cascade River Road. The day climbs onto the Eldorado Icecap, traverses to ski the south face of Klawatti, returns to summit Eldorado, and drops the SW couloir into Marble Cirque before working back to the trailhead.

Skiing combines two distinct aspects in a single push. Klawatti's south face delivers spring corn on the right cycle. The Eldorado SW couloir is steeper and demands attention to overhead hanging snow above. Marble Cirque skiing rolls out below for the return. Skiers can extend by exploring the broader Marble Royal Loop terrain on the same approach.

This is committing terrain on the Eldorado Icecap. Glacier travel requires rope team and crevasse rescue gear. Spring corn windows are tight — too early risks instability, too late opens crevasse fields and increases overhead hangfire concerns. Eldorado approach river crossing can run high in spring runoff.

Ski Terrain

South-facing corn skiing on Klawatti combined with sustained SW couloir off Eldorado. Glacier transitions on Eldorado Icecap throughout.
