Me-Kwa-Mooks Park
Puget SoundBest Mar–Oct
A West Seattle bluff park with forested footpaths and a rocky beach across the road at low tide.
About This Trail
Me-Kwa-Mooks Park sits on the western bluff of West Seattle above Puget Sound. A short network of footpaths threads the forested upper park; a grassy lawn with picnic tables opens above the water. The name is an Anglicized form of a Lushootseed word for Alki Point, the ground that arcs north from here toward Duwamish Head.
Across Beach Drive SW, the Emma Schmitz Memorial Overlook fronts a rocky shoreline. At low tide, pools and cobble flats emerge for poking around. Sound views and bird activity are steady year-round, and the park is a common stop for a quick outing with kids or the dog.
Parking is on Beach Drive SW. A restroom is available at the trailhead. WTA crews have done trail work here in past seasons.
