My group of three and two dogs hiked to the lake for a picnic on a sunny Easter afternoon. Trails are in great shape and Newman lake was a great backdrop for our outing.

Really lovely day hike with lots of spring wildflowers. We started with the Vision Quest lollypop loop, then went down the Bedrock Ridge trail and came back by the Turtle Rock trail.

We had time before Easter brunch and wanted to get in a few miles before brunch and eventually the long drive home to the SW part of the state.   We hiked from Liberty Lake Regional park the day before and saw the sign for McKenzie Natural Area (this isn't on the WTA site that I could find so this trip report is erroneously under the "McKenzie Conservation Area") and decided we would check it out.
