About This Trail

Big Finn Hill Park is 220 acres of second-growth Douglas fir forest in Kirkland, sandwiched between Saint Edwards State Park to the north and O.O. Denny Park to the south. The trail network is extensive and nearly flat, making it a go-to spot for dog walkers, trail runners, and families who want forest time without a climb.

The park's personality is defined by its maze of intersecting trails. Numbered wooden markers appear at junctions but don't follow any logical sequence, and not every trail shows up on the official map. If you lose your bearings, follow the sound of traffic on Juanita Drive and you will find your way out. That said, getting a little turned around is part of the charm. Tall firs, bright green mosses, and thick fern understory make every path look inviting. Beavers have built wetlands in the lower sections, and eagles, deer, and barred owls are regular sightings.

Free parking at two lots east of Juanita Drive NE. The lot near the lacrosse fields has clean restrooms. You can also enter from NE 138th Street on either side or connect through Saint Edwards or O.O. Denny Park for a longer outing. King County Metro Route 225 serves the area.

Thank you beavers for creating this wonderful wetland! Your amphibian neighbors thank you, too, for providing a splendid habitat for them.
