About This Trail

Tronsen Loop is a gentle 3-mile circuit through the ungroomed Blewett Pass Non-motorized Trail System, following Forest Road 7240 through meadows and open forest. The route gains only 155 feet and follows a wide, easy-to-navigate road surface, making it one of the most accessible snowshoe routes in the Blewett Pass area.

The loop passes through Tronsen Meadow, a broad open area that also serves as a popular cross-country ski zone. River views and distant mountain sightlines add interest to what is otherwise a flat walk. The trail system connects to longer routes toward Tronsen Head and other destinations for those wanting to extend their day.

This is a family-friendly entry point to winter recreation at Blewett Pass. The low elevation gain, short distance, and proximity to Highway 97 make it easy to fit into a half day. Cross-country skiers also use these trails, so snowshoers should avoid walking on ski tracks.

We headed to Tronsen Meadow, unsure if the snow conditions would be good for a full day of skiing, and found good snow coverage right from the trailhead that only got better as we climbed. The conditions enticed us to keep going all the way to Tronsen Head.

A beautiful sunny day for snowshoeing! With no recent snowfall, snow was pretty packed down on most of the trails, but snowshoes were helpful to prevent postholing(it was pretty bad in the sunniest spots) and a few areas with deeper snow.
