Swauk Campground Snowshoe
Central CascadesBest Dec–Mar
An open-ended snowshoe staging area with gentle forest roads and connections to the broader Blewett Pass network.
About This Trail
Swauk Campground Sno-Park provides access to a large network of forest roads and trails that connect to the Pipe Creek and Blewett Pass trail systems. The campground itself sits along Highway 97 south of Blewett Pass, and in winter the campground roads and surrounding forest become a free-form snowshoe playground with no single defined route.
The area works best for beginners and groups who want to explore at their own pace. The enclosed picnic shelter near the trailhead offers a good meeting point and lunch spot. Blue-blazed trails head in multiple directions, and you can customize your distance by choosing from the many intersecting roads and trails shown on the Washington State Parks sno-park map.
This is more of a staging area than a destination. Experienced snowshoers will want to use it as a jumping-off point for longer routes toward Pipe Creek or Swauk Meadows. For families and first-timers, the gentle terrain and facilities make it a low-commitment entry point to winter recreation near Blewett Pass.
