Silver Falls
Central CascadesBest May–Oct
A steep but short climb to four viewpoints of a powerful Entiat Valley waterfall.
About This Trail
Silver Falls packs a lot into a short distance. The 1.7-mile round trip follows Silver Creek through a mix of cool forest and fire-opened slopes, climbing 600 feet on stone steps and switchbacks to reach multiple viewpoints of the falls. Four distinct vantage points let you see the cascade from different angles, connected by sturdy bridges and benches where you can sit and watch the water.
The trail starts with a loop junction at 0.1 miles, and either direction works. The main viewpoint arrives around 0.4 miles after about 300 feet of climbing. Beyond the falls, the trail opens into areas scarred by recent wildfire, providing long views across the Entiat Valley toward Signal Peak. The terrain shifts from shaded forest floor to exposed hillside quickly.
Despite the short distance, this trail is steep enough to demand decent footwear. The stone steps vary in spacing, and the ground can be slippery when wet. A large parking lot, privy, and the adjacent Silver Falls Campground make this a natural stop when exploring the Entiat River corridor. The trail earned National Recreational Trail designation in 1979.
