Sauer's Mountain
Central CascadesBest Apr–Jun
Early-season wildflower ridgeline with sweeping Enchantments and Wenatchee Valley views, on private land near Peshastin.
About This Trail
Sauer's Mountain climbs 610 meters through dry east-side terrain to a ridgeline viewpoint above the Wenatchee River Valley. The lower trail passes through a quirky stretch of carved wooden totems and tree-face art before forking: one route follows an exposed ridgeline with wildflower meadows, the other cuts through shaded forest. Both routes converge near the summit, where views extend to the Enchantments, Rock Island, and Glacier Peak.
The trail opens earlier than most Central Cascades destinations thanks to its low elevation and east-facing aspect. Balsamroot and lupine carpet the hillsides from late March through May, making this one of the first good wildflower hikes of the season. Summer brings dry, dusty conditions and full sun exposure on the ridge.
This trail crosses private land. The landowner allows public access but expects respectful behavior. Parking holds roughly 10 vehicles and overflowing beyond posted signs is prohibited. The trail closes October 1 through March 21 each year.

Safety & Considerations
Today's Hazard
- Strong sun — sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses recommended
Persistent Hazards
- seasonal closure Oct 1 - Mar 21
- private land - stay on trail
- exposed ridgeline - no shade in summer
Getting There
Small lot holds about 10 cars. Do not park beyond posted signs; overflow parking is prohibited on this private land. No fee required.
From Peshastin (3 miles east of Leavenworth), follow North Road and turn right before the cemetery onto Anderson Canyon Road. Drive 0.7 mile to the trailhead on the left. At the half-mile fork, left follows the exposed ridgeline with better views; right goes through shaded forest.
Morning starts avoid afternoon heat in summer. Spring mornings bring the best light on the wildflowers.
