About This Trail

Reflection Ponds is the easy opening act on the trail that leads deeper into the Sultan Basin toward Boulder and Greider Lakes. The route follows the south shore of Spada Lake through mixed forest, crossing McCarty Creek on two newer bridges before arriving at a pair of small, still ponds tucked into the trees. A quarter-mile loop connects them, and the water is calm enough to mirror the surrounding forest on windless mornings.

The trail is mostly flat with minimal elevation change, making it a solid choice for families, anyone recovering from a bigger day, or folks who just want a quiet walk in the woods without a summit objective. Along the way, the Bear Creek Viewpoint offers a bench, picnic tables, and a wide view across Spada Lake. The forest is thick with berry bushes that produce well in late summer, so keep your eyes open for wildlife doing the same.

A Discover Pass is required to park at the trailhead. The access road is gravel and was regraded in 2025, but higher-clearance vehicles still have an easier time of it. Vault toilets are available at the trailhead. If the ponds leave you wanting more, keep going on the same trail toward Boulder Lake or the Greider Lakes for a proper day hike with real elevation gain.
