Ferry-accessed trailhead on Lake Chelan, gateway to the Sawtooth Wilderness and the Lakeshore Trail.
About This Trail
Prince Creek Trail begins at the Lady of the Lake ferry landing on Lake Chelan and climbs into the Chelan Sawtooth Wilderness. The trailhead sits at lake level, making it snow-free earlier than most Cascade trails. The route follows Prince Creek upvalley through dry ponderosa pine and Douglas fir forest, connecting to the Chelan Summit Trail and Purple Creek Trail for multi-day loops through the Sawtooth backcountry.
The trail is the primary access point for the Chelan Lakeshore Trail as well, making Prince Creek a major backcountry hub. Established campsites sit at the landing. WTA volunteer crews maintain the first 3 miles annually, clearing downed logs from winter storms.
Access requires the Lady of the Lake ferry from Chelan or Field's Point Landing. Book tickets in advance at ladyofthelake.com; summer dates sell out. The 2024 Pioneer Fire caused significant damage in the Chelan Sawtooth Wilderness. Restoration work continues. Midweek starts are recommended for solitude during early season when the low-elevation trail draws crowds escaping snow elsewhere.
