Peshastin Mill Trail
Central CascadesBest Apr–Oct
A short riverside stroll through ponderosa pines with sandy beach access near Peshastin.
About This Trail
The Peshastin Mill Trail follows a former lumber mill access road behind the fruit warehouses in Peshastin, about 4 miles east of Leavenworth. The gated gravel road leads a quarter mile to where a spur branches left toward the Wenatchee River. From there, the path rolls and dips gently through open ponderosa pine groves with short side trails offering access to sandy riverbanks.
Spring wildflowers carpet the open ground beneath the ponderosas, and the sunny, east-side terrain dries out early in the season. Late spring through mid-summer brings the best beach access when the river level drops enough to expose sand bars. Mountain views open up through gaps in the trees, looking back toward the Cascades.
The trail ends at a fenced orchard after about 0.4 miles of walking along the river. The whole outing is short and flat, better suited as a quick stop or a pairing with nearby Peshastin Pinnacles than as a standalone destination. No fee or pass required. Note that the WTA trailhead coordinates are incorrect, though Google Maps has the correct location labeled.
