About This Trail

The Mountain Home Ridge network climbs the south side of Leavenworth across Chelan-Douglas Land Trust and Forest Service land, with three to eight miles of trail laced across the open slope. The main route uses a decommissioned forest road as a stable spine, with single-track loops branching off to Canyon Crest, Boundary Butte, and the higher viewpoints. The shortest loop runs around three miles; the full network builds to about eight.

The setting is dry-side ponderosa, balsamroot, and bunchgrass — a different country from the wet Cascades crest just twenty miles west. Sun pounds the trail through midday; tree cover is sparse to moderate. The view across to Wedge Mountain and the Peshastin foothills is the consistent reward, with Stuart Range peaks visible from higher viewpoints on a clear day.

Land Trust trails get prescribed burns through spring — the network closes briefly each year for those operations. Confirm with CDLT before driving out. Multi-use means mountain bikes share the trails; hikers should yield on banked turns. Free parking at a fifteen-vehicle dirt lot with a privy.
