About This Trail

This 16-mile loop connects three distinct trail segments for one of the best wildflower backpacking routes in the Central Cascades. The Little Wenatchee River Trail climbs gradually through old-growth forest along the river before reaching Meander Meadow, a sprawling wildflower basin at the headwaters. From there, the route joins the Pacific Crest Trail north to Dishpan Gap, then returns south along Cady Ridge with panoramic views of Glacier Peak and the surrounding valleys.

The clockwise direction (up Little Wenatchee, PCT to Dishpan, down Cady Ridge) is the more popular approach, but counter-clockwise works too. Camp options include Meander Meadow and Lake Sally Ann, both with established sites. The PCT section between Meander Meadow and Dishpan Gap traverses open alpine terrain with miles of wildflower meadows in peak bloom during July and August.

The Cady Creek connector trail is notoriously brushy, with shoulder-high vegetation including devil's club and thistle that can be difficult to push through. This section is often the most complained-about part of the loop. The access road to Little Wenatchee Ford Trailhead is long and rough, adding time to the approach. Bugs can be fierce in July. This is a committed trip that rewards strong hikers with solitude and some of the best meadow walking in the region.
