Hurley Road Snowshoe
Central CascadesBest Dec–Mar
A quiet, gentle forest road snowshoe along Hurley Creek with near-guaranteed solitude.
About This Trail
Hurley Road follows Forest Road 9711 along Hurley Creek for 2.5 miles one way, gaining 550 feet at a gentle, steady grade. The wide road surface makes for straightforward snowshoeing with no routefinding challenges. One trip report describes continuing off the road to tag Peak 3790, adding a more adventurous summit option for those wanting to push farther.
The trailhead sits just off Highway 97 near milepost 159, across from the Old Blewett Pass Road. Parking is informal, with room for only 2-3 cars on a pullout. The approach requires carefully crossing Highway 97 on foot and walking a short distance north along the highway shoulder to reach the start of Road 9711.
Solitude defines this route. Trip reports consistently note seeing no one else for hours. The forest is pleasant but unremarkable, and there are no dramatic views until you leave the road for higher ground. This is a route for snowshoers who value quiet over scenery, or who want to avoid the more popular Blewett Pass sno-park areas.
