Elk Trap Springs Trail
Central CascadesBest Jun–Oct
Connector trail through elk meadows linking Table Mountain to the Naneum basin loop network.
About This Trail
Elk Trap Springs Trail descends from the Table Mountain Trail toward Naneum Meadows through open meadows and recovering burn forest. The namesake spring is marked by a green metal tank connected to a pipe, a remnant of wildlife management infrastructure. Views of the Wenatchee Mountains accompany the descent, and the open terrain supports elk and deer sightings, particularly in early morning and evening.
The trail connects Table Mountain Trail with Naneum Rim, Naneum Creek, and Grass Camp trails, making it a useful link in the network of loops that cover the Naneum basin. Combined with Naneum Creek Trail and Table Mountain Trail, it forms a roughly 4.5-mile loop with about 1,000 feet of elevation change that hits the best scenery in the area, especially during October larch season.
Blowdowns and fast-growing grass can obscure the tread, so bring a map and pay attention at junctions, which are not all signed. The open terrain makes visual navigation straightforward even where the trail fades. Only one trip report exists on WTA, reflecting the trail's obscurity rather than its quality.

Recent Reports
I'd taken Friday the 13th off and several of my friends were able to join me in a larch march in Blewett. When we realized the drive to the trailhead after getting off Blewett Pass was going to take 45m, we made a last minute decision to access this loop from the Tronson Ridge ORV trailhead.
