The road to the trailhead is good overall, a few rough rocky sections to take care on but passable in our low clearance sedan.

3-day/2-night backpacking trip to climb Emerald, Saska and Cardinal Peaks in the Chelan Mountains from July 3-5, 2026. ROAD: The road to the North Fork Entiat was in good shape and currently passenger car-friendly, quite an upgrade from my visit in 2024!

Day 1 of a 3 day trip in the Entiats Day 1: Emerald base camp and Cardinal (middle) peak My question that remains, are you actually supposed to climb on top of the ridge from the main gully to the middle summit. Guide books said it was simple but it was very much exposed (see photo).
